Taylor Swift Writes Million-Dollar Check To Louisiana After Devastating Floods | Huff Post

In the wake of historic flooding that’s devastated parts of Louisiana and killed at least 11 people, Taylor Swift has donated $1 million dollars to the state’s disaster relief fund.

On Tuesday, the singer released a statement to the Associated Press pledging her support to those impacted by the flooding, explaining how her Louisiana fans were the first to welcome her with open arms at the onset of her 1989 tour last year.

“We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home,” Swift said. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”

The floods, which started on Friday after a heavy rainfall, have displaced upwards of 30,000 residents and damaged at least 40,000 homes in the days since.

“I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time,” the “Bad Blood” singer said.
